Hi, I’m Ruth—the heart and hands behind Ruth at Essence. My passion for beautiful fragrances and the cozy glow of candles led me on a journey to create something special.

As a qualified beauty therapist, I’ve always loved the way scents can transform a space and elevate mood. One day, I wondered, Could I make my own candles? That simple thought sparked a dream. On my days off, I began crafting scented candles and reed diffusers in my home kitchen.

What started as a personal project quickly turned into something more. I displayed my creations in my beauty salon, and to my delight, my clients adored them. Encouraged by their support, I took my products to craft markets—where they sold out, with customers eagerly placing orders for more.

At Ruth at Essence, my mission is to create luxurious, vegan-friendly home fragrances made with high-quality ingredients and no hidden nasties. Every candle is hand-poured using a clean-burning blend of soy, coconut, and rapeseed wax, paired with premium fragrance oils to fill your home with long-lasting, beautiful aromas.
